About the Competition
 
Can your team be composed of professionals
from other firms?
Yes, anyone can be on your competition team.
 
Can we bring our own supplies and materials
for the competition?
All building materials will be supplied for you no other building materials will be allowed at this time. You will have to bring any tools you need with you to the event.
No power tools will be allowed.
You will receive a complete list of materials and recommended tools a month in advance of the event.
 
Can we start designing before the event?
Yes, you will receive a complete program and list of materials one month in advance of the event.
You are encouraged to begin the design process
as early as possible.
Professionals will have opportunities in May to meet with your student-designer teammates for planning sessions.
 
Can we substitute team members during the event.
No, the 7 team members who begin building at 5pm must remain the same throughout the build.
There is no limit to team members involved in planning and design prior to the event.

What will the cocktail party be like?
Is there a dress code?
It is a cocktail party with live music, food and open bar! Business casual (including jeans) is recommended.
 
When do tickets to the Iron Designer Challenge go on sale? How much are they?
Tickets go on sale May 1st! Click here.
Tickets are $40.00 till June 4th.
Afterward they will be $50.00.
 
Will tickets be sold at the door?
Yes. They will be $50.00.
We will be accepting cash, check or credit.
 
Who can attend the event?
Anyone! Bring friends, family, co-workers and strangers off the street!
 
Do I have to be present to win a Silent Auction item?
No, but someone present will have to place bids for you.
 
Are tickets, donations and sponsorships
tax deductible?
100% of all donations and sponsorships are tax deductible. The ticket price is not.
  
What does the donated money go to?
Funds raised from sponsorship and the Iron Designer Challenge will go to creating a media/ technology lab for SDC students.
 
What is the time commitment for volunteering
at the school?
Depends on your schedule and availability. There is a wide range of involvement opportunities.
