And the champions are...
Based on the popular television show “The Iron Chef”, the Iron Designer Challenge raised $20,000 to support the design program of the School of Design and Construction (SDC)! The funds will help purchase material supplies and portfolios, and take students on field trips and college visits, for the school’s inner-city students, whose goals are to become tomorrow’s Engineers, Construction Managers and Architects.
On June 17th, 10 teams of professionals from New York City, partnered with SDC students, faced-off in the ultimate design/ build competition: in 3 hours construct a life-size emergency shelter made from simple, everyday materials. On SDC roof deck overlooking the New York skyline teams built their fantastic structures in front of a live audience. Hosted by popular television personality Diana Williams from WABC-TV news, and judged by acclaimed industry specialists, the following teams emerged as the champions!
